Frequently Asked Questions

THE BASICS

A: All US military retirees, current NATO retirees, medically retired individuals and spouses of retirees are invited to register!

A: Yes! All spouses of eligible retirees are welcome to participate even if their spouse doesn’t play.

A: Once the tournament receives 700 entries, registration will close. If we do not reach this number, we will close registration on May 12th at 5:00pm est.

A: NRMGC shirt and hat, surprise golf gift, local discount coupons, drink coupons, and local area/tournament information.

HANDICAPS & GOLF

A: You will be asked during payment to confirm you have a handicap. Then, participants will have a handicap form sent to them via email prior to flighting the event. The form will request handicap information, as well as other pre-event information needed for planning. Failure to complete this form by the deadline can result in the participant being ineligible for prizes in the competition.

A: The pairings and course rotation will be published on the NRMGC website approximately five days prior to the tournament’s start date. The pairings and course rotation will also be published at registration.

A: Men and Women: All participants are labeled an A, B, C or D player. You then are assigned daily to a team comprising only other players of the same gender with one A, B, C & D player. Your teammates changes daily. Your team score for each day will count as the individual score. Prizes are awarded based on individual cumulative total. There are no cumulative team prizes, only daily. Players will play a scramble at 15% of all participants handicaps. Each player’s drive must be used twice (men and women).

A: 

Men Under 65: 5,750 – 6,250 yards*
Men 65 – 74:  5,250 – 5,750 yards*
Men 75+:  no more than 5,250 yards (or the shortest rated for Men)*
Ladies:  4,500 – 5,250 yards*
Senior Ladies 65+: no more than 4,500 yards*

*Please note that yardages/distances are used for guidelines only. In some circumstances actual yardages may fall outside of these ranges.*

A: Yes! Players making requests together must be the same gender.

A: Practice rounds are available for participants from May 15th through June 3rd. They can begin booking those times on May 1st and the cost per person will be $49 per person at every course.

PRIZES & CONTESTS

A: The team that has the lowest net score at each course, each day will win a daily prize. Dependent on the total number of men and women players in the final field, we’ll award a number of the top men and women A,B,C,D players prizes as well.

A: The putting contest is conducted while final scores are being computed on the last day of play for both men and women. The putting contest affords the players waiting for the award ceremony to start a chance to participate in a fun event and win a prize while waiting.

A: Flights will be made of roughly 100 players each. Actual flight size will vary from flight to flight dependent on the final size of the field after registration.

A: Dozen golf balls and $20 PGA Tour Superstore gift card.

A: PGA Tour Superstore gift cards are given for daily awards, tournament winners, and CTPs. Founder Group gift cards for use at the Founders Group golf courses are given for daily drawing winners.

FOOD & BEVERAGE/ACTIVITIES

A: Drink tickets are for the players daily use either on the course or in the clubhouse after the round. These can be used on the beverage cart as well and are good for soft drinks or beer. Food and drink tickets are part of the registration choice that players make between a Brittain produced food and drink ticket or Alabama ticket. The Alabama Theatre ticket is a choice the players can make when they register which includes a ticket to the Alabama Theatre show on Wednesday night.

A: Food and drink certificates are prepared by Brittian Resorts to be redeemed at their restaurants. You also have the option for Alabama Theater tickets which are for the Wednesday performance during event week. Additional tickets can be purchased at registration for family members at the same discount price. Representatives from Brittian Resorts and Alabama Theater will be present at registration on Tuesday 30 May to issue certificates and tickets.

A: Yes. Guests are permitted, and should be limited to only those who are accompanying our NRMGC players to the event.

EVERYTHING ELSE

A: For every NEW player that lists your name as their referral on their initial registration form, you will be given a $20 PGA Tour Superstore gift card. Each year, the player with the most referrals will win a FREE ENTRY into the next year’s tournament (minimum of 5 new player referrals to be eligible to win).

A: Cancellations must be made in writing by email at: NRMGCTournament@gmail.com . Cancellations prior to end of day 2 May 2025 will incur a service charge of $25.00. There will be a $35.00 service charge for cancellations from 3 May 2025 until 16 May 2025. After 16 May 2025, no refunds will be given.
